There was some chaos as the first civilian governor of Osun State and serving senator, Isiaka Adeleke, who died in the early hours of Sunday, April 23, 2017, in Osogbo after succumbing to a protracted ailment, was laid to rest.
Angry supporters collapsed a canopy on Governors Ibikunle Amosun, Rotimi Akeredolu, to chase out Idiat Babalola, who is a commissioner nominee of Governor Rauf Aregbesola, considered a rival of the late Adeleke, uncle to music star Davido.
Enraged by claims that the former governor was poisoned to death, irate youths descended on Babalola who has being touted to become the running mate of the anointed candidate of the APC, Punch reports.
Problem reportedly started when Babalola, who was seated among the dignitaries including the younger brother of the deceased, Deji Adeleke, was sighted by the mourners and chased out despite pleas from the family members of the deceased.
Shouting and raining curses on her, the youths started shaking the canopy where were Babalola, who they described as a betrayer, was seated with other dignitaries.
Babalola was eventually escorted outside the house by Governor Amosun and his security aides amid a hail of sticks and mango fruits thrown at her.
