The Independent National Electoral Commission on Wednesday presented the certificate of return to the President-Elect, Bola Tinubu.
The certificate was presented to Tinubu by INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu at the International Conference Centre in Abuja, the nationβs capital.
His running mate Kashim Shettima also received his certificate of return at the event.
Tinubu was declared the winner of the Saturday, February 25 election after receiving 8,794,726 votes to defeat his closest rival, PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, who received 6,984,520 votes.
Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer, ran for president for the first time in a hotly contested race.
The 70-year-old former Lagos Governor received the most votes in 12 of Nigeriaβs 36 states and received significant support in several others.
Abubakar, 76, who has now run for president six times, received 6,984,520 votes, while the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Peter Obi, who galvanised young voters in an unprecedented manner in less than a year, received 6,101,533
