JUST IN: Thugs invade polling unit, shoot, destroy electoral materials in Lagos

Today, political thugs broke into a voting booth at the Agbula-Obisanya intersection in the Mapoluku district of Lagos state as Nigerians elect a new leader.
POLITICS OF NIGERIA reports that gunmen opened fire and destroyed all official documents of the Independent National Election Commission (INEC).

They also drove voters out of polling places in their communities.

According to Raval Adeoho, a resident of Maporuku, the thieves made their presence known around 13:00 today (Sat) and fired at them from time to time.
β€œI saw people running. Now, many people are afraid to go out for approval and voting,” said Adeoho.

The Lagos State police command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benjamin Hundeyin, did not respond to calls and text messages seeking comments on the incident as of the time of publishing this report.
